Dear Brothers and Sisters: As part of our continuing catechesis during this Holy Year devoted to God’s mercy, we now turn to the message of consolation found in the book of the prophet Jeremiah. The jarring experience of the Exile had shaken the faith of the Chosen People, yet the prophet proclaims that God, far from abandoning his people, reaffirms his faithful love and his promise of salvation. Jeremiah’s words of consolation and hope have a particular resonance today in the light of so many tragic situations of exile throughout our world. They also tell us of God’s gracious offer of forgiveness, restoration and the possibility of a new beginning. The prophet’s imagery of the desolate land turning into a garden, and the joyful throngs ascending Mount Zion, speak of God’s power to bring life out of death and blessing out of evil. Jeremiah’s prophecy finds supreme fulfilment in the coming of Jesus, whose paschal mystery proclaims the triumph of God’s merciful love and his promise of reconciliation, renewal and life eternal.

El Profeta Jeremías se dirige a los israelitas que habían sido deportados y les anuncia el regreso a su tierra. Esta vuelta en patria es signo del amor infinito de Dios que no abandona a sus hijos, sino que los cuida y los salva. El exilio fue una experiencia muy dura para el pueblo de Israel e hizo que su fe vacilase. También nosotros podemos vivir a veces algún tipo de exilio, como la soledad, el sufrimiento, la muerte, que nos hace pensar que estamos abandonados de Dios. Nos podemos preguntar: ¿Dónde está Dios? El Profeta Jeremías nos da una respuesta: Dios está cerca de nosotros, es fiel y hace grandes obras de salvación en aquellos que esperan en él. Dios ama con un amor sin límites, que ni el pecado puede frenar, y hace que el corazón del hombre se llene de alegría y consolación. Jesús ha llevado a plenitud el anuncio del profeta. Su pasión, muerte y resurrección es la expresión definitiva y más plena del amor misericordioso de Dios, que nos devuelve del exilio, nos conforta en las adversidades y nos concede alegría, paz y vida eterna.

（梵蒂岡電台訊）教宗方濟各3月16日上午在聖伯多祿廣場主持週三公開接見活動，4萬人在場參加。教宗在要理講授中以慈悲與安慰為主題，談到目前數百萬移民被拒之門外的悲慘遭遇，希望各國執政當局敞開心門，開放國門。教宗強調，天主沒有離棄我們，即使在今天的悲慘情況下，祂依然與我們同在。
教宗首先講解《耶肋米亞先知書》第31章的内容。當時，以色列子民被迫離開家園，充軍到巴比倫，在異鄉過流亡生活。天主藉著先知的口安慰祂的子民，預言他們必要返回祖國。教宗從今天流離失所者的處境回顧昔日流亡的以色列子民，指出耶肋米亞先知安慰以色列子民的一席話，也正是向今天那些從中東、非洲和亞洲來到歐洲的新流亡者說的。
教宗表示：“我們經常聽到有人這樣說：‘天主忘記了我’。這些人感到痛苦和被遺棄。可是，我們有多少兄弟姐妹此時正處在一種實際和悲慘的流亡狀況，他們遠離祖國，眼裡仍然是家園倒塌的瓦礫，心中充滿恐懼，常常因失去親人而悲傷！在這樣的情況下，我們會問：‘天主在哪裡？’”
這數千年來款待與關懷外鄉人的文明傳統在哪裡？“無辜的男人、女人和兒童為什麽會遭受這麽大的痛苦？”“當他們設法進入某些別的地方，門就向他們關閉了。他們停留在邊境上，因為許多門戶和許多心靈都關閉了。今天，這些移民飢寒交迫，被關在門外進不去，得不到接納。我很希望聽到和看到各國及執政人士敞開心靈，開放國門的消息！”
教宗指出，耶肋米亞先知激勵以色列子民的信念，今天也同樣激勵著那些嚮往一塊福地和一個新希望的人。這個信念曾支持了阿爾巴尼亞在遭受嚴厲迫害和摧毀後又重新站立起來。同一個信念也在支持著中東地區的人民。
“天主沒有離棄我們，即使在今天的悲慘情況下，祂也與我們同在。天主臨近仰賴祂的人，為他們施展救恩的偉大工程。我們不可失望，卻應繼續不斷地堅信善必定戰勝惡，上主定會擦乾每個人的眼淚，解除我們的一切恐懼。”
教宗最後表示，流亡的以色列子民返回新的耶路撒冷也是對一顆“懺悔的心”予以安慰的重大徵兆。“主耶穌已經實現了先知的這個訊息。從流亡之地真正和徹底回歸，那道在信德黑夜過後令人感到欣慰的光芒，正是藉著主基督的復活而實現的。基督的復活是體嚐天主完美及決定性的愛，那賜予喜樂、平安及永生的慈悲大愛”。
